Psychologist Carl Jung called it the shadow self.
It’s the part of you that was never allowed to exist.
The emotions you were told were “too much.”
The parts of you that didn’t feel safe to show.
The version of you that learned:
“If I show this… I won’t be loved.”
So you hid it.
But hidden does not mean gone.
It just means…
it’s now running your life from behind the scenes.

But if there is a part of you that believes:
“I’m not enough”
“I’ll be rejected”

Your shadow doesn’t show up when life is easy.
It shows up in moments like:
When someone ignores you
When you feel disrespected
When you feel replaced
When you feel unseen
And suddenly…
Your reaction feels bigger than the situation
That’s not weakness.
That’s a memory being activated.
👶 Where Did This Come From?
Most of these patterns were formed very early.
Before you even knew how to question them.
Between ages 0–7, your mind was absorbing everything:
How love works
What safety feels like
What you had to do to be accepted
And those patterns…
are still running today.
Like old software controlling a new life.
🌿 This Is Where Real Healing Begins
Not by forcing yourself to “be positive.”
Not by ignoring your feelings.
But by turning toward them.
Gently.
Honestly.
Without judgment.
Instead of asking:
❌ “Why am I like this?”
Try asking:
👉 “What part of me is hurting right now?”

1. Pause
Before reacting, stop for a moment.
Give yourself space.
2. Name the feeling
Go deeper than “I’m upset.”
Say the truth:
“I feel rejected.”
“I feel invisible.”
“I feel not enough.”
3. Ask yourself
“When have I felt this before?”
Let your mind go back.
Don’t force it.
4. Recognize the pattern
Most of the time…
this feeling is not new.
It’s something you’ve carried for a long time.
5. Sit with it
Don’t fix it.
Don’t distract yourself.
Just feel it in your body.
6. Remind yourself
“This is an old feeling. I’m safe now.”
7. Choose a new response
Not from the wound…
but from awareness.
